Papers in Aston Hall Aston Hall, Birmingham, England.
In 1921, Clarence Beebe in his booklet, "John Beebe of Broughton" wrote: "Letters and manuscripts of the Beebe family are preserved in the archives of Aston Hall in Warwickshire, England - written by one John Thorpe, a local antiquarian, which on their face bear a strong aspect of veracity and reliability. Here it is found that the name Beebe is said to have been derived from the name of two Norman Knights named Beebe at the time of the Norman Conquest of England in the year 1066 A.D." Here is a picture of Aston Hall as it appears today. Contact with the Archivist, David Bishop, Birmingham Government in December 1999 resulted in a reply stating: "Unfortunately, I have been unable to uncover any references to the manuscript you refer to. The archive does hold a number of items relating to Aston Hall, but none of them appear to relate to the Beebe/Beeby family."
