Thank you for visiting this site. I hope that you will get some useful information out of it. The presentation is plain, simple and functional to minimize the time it takes to download and view pages.
This started off as a conventional home page. I was interested in family history and wanted to make my research available to other people, to avoid duplication of effort. The response was very encouraging and as information came in it became apparent that a more formal "home" was needed.
Thanks to a very kind donation I have been
able to separate Beebe material from the unrelated mass of data originally
present and have dedicated this site to research into the Beebe family name and its
variants.
The same sponsor (in UK business terms he would be described as an
"Angel") has just, June 2002, funded two more years hosting for this
web site and enabled me to move the data from home page space into properly
hosted web space. I will not go into the technicalities of why this is
desirable but it is a huge step forward, Thank You!!.
Another consideration is to set up a formal Trust to own and manage the site. This will further de-personalise it and provide continuity in the event of my demise (not for a while I hope! overweight but not yet 50). A bit of forward planning along these lines does seem sensible as there is a huge amount of data here which must continue to be available and managed.
Let me know if you are interested in the idea of a "Beeb Trust" or similar. You do not, of course, have to be in UK. The internet knows no boundaries.
If you can supply more information or make suggestions on how to improve the site they will be gratefully received. If you would like to contribute articles or whole pieces of research then I am more than happy to credit you accordingly. Please remember, for me this is a spare time hobby and I only have a certain amount of time and money to spend on it.
October 2005...... Not too many changes lately, just a few tweaks and minor additions.
It would be nice to really develop this site and pull together all the material found elsewhere on the web but that is not practical given the resources available to me. I can afford to maintain the data in its present state but do not expect the site to expand further.
November 2005...... I have just been contacted by Andrew Wilson who, while researching his own family history, came across information about "our" John Beebe who was killed during WW2. I am very grateful to him for passing the information on so that I can include it in his memorial page. It makes running this site worthwhile, thank you Andrew. (link to John Beebe)
For those of you who do not know me, and bearing in mind the absence of international borders on the Internet, my name is Les Sullivan, I am English, married with three young children and live a few miles South of Cambridge in UK. My mother is a Beebe.
How you can contact me.
